Parents as partners
in education.
Your own Montessori journey, the school calendar and policies — and what our families say.
Parents as partners in education.
A Montessori education is a partnership between school and home. From your first day at BMS you begin your own Montessori parent journey — learning alongside your child, supported by our guides, and taking part in the life of the school.
A year of learning together.
Every year, the school hosts a programme of events for parents — some to learn about Montessori in depth, some to see your child’s environment from the inside, and some simply to be together as a community. Typical events include:
Welcome Coffee Mornings
Meet other families and the team at the start of the year — with a special welcome for newly arrived families.
Montessori Parent Education Evenings
Talks and workshops on child development, independence at home, and the why behind what you see in the classroom.
Classroom Observation Mornings
Sit quietly in your child’s environment and watch a working morning unfold — many parents call it the moment Montessori ‘clicked’. Through the year you are also invited to join the students for lunch.
Parent–Guide Conferences
Individual conversations about your child’s development, twice a year and whenever you need one.
Community Celebrations
Seasonal festivals, International Day, performances and exhibitions — the whole community, together.
FAB Club Gatherings
Family picnics, outings and initiatives organised by parents, for everyone.
Termly Parent Breakfasts
Each term, an informal breakfast for parents with the school team.
Monthly Newsletter
News from every environment, dates and reminders — once a month, in your inbox.
Parent Representatives
Each class has a parent representative who keeps the link between families and the team.
The full 2026–27 parent events calendar is published at the start of the school year — see the school calendar below for confirmed dates.

How you follow your child’s progress.
Montessori learning isn’t reduced to grades, so we show you the learning itself. Guides record lessons, observations and work in My Montessori Journal, the platform used every day in our classrooms, and share your child’s progress with you there.
Every lesson, recorded
Guides note each lesson your child receives and how it is going, from first presentation to mastery, alongside observations and photos from the classroom.
Progress across three curricula
Follow your child’s progress against the Montessori, British and Catalan frameworks, evidenced through real work and observation rather than a single test score.
Everything in one place
The classroom calendar, reports, portfolios and school messages in one calm space, in English, Spanish or Catalan.
Questions parents ask
How often will I hear from the classroom?
Guides share observations, photos and updates as classroom life happens, and you can log in whenever you like to see the latest.
How does it connect with meetings?
Twice a year, and whenever you need one, you sit down with your child’s guide for a Parent–Guide Conference built on what has been recorded.
Who can see my child’s information?
Only your family and the school team. Data is used solely to provide the educational service, is never sold or used for advertising, and is protected under the GDPR and Spanish data-protection law.

Three ways families shape school life.
Community at BMS is built by parents, for everyone. Three connected initiatives make it easy to take part — whatever your time, language or interests.
Families Association of BMS
A non-profit, secular and apolitical association run by parents to build a warm, connected school community. The FAB Club organises social events, projects and activities, provides volunteers for school events, and fundraises so that every student can join school trips regardless of financial circumstances. It is committed to equality, diversity and accessibility, with democratic and transparent governance.
- Informal meetings: 3rd Tuesday of the month, 9:15–10:30 in the school canteen
- Initiatives include penpal projects, Community Week, monthly “park & cake”, parent education events and weekend family activities
- Open to all families — a welcoming way to meet like-minded parents across classes
Note: the FAB Club is not a representative body — dialogue with the school takes place through the School Community Forum.
Family Ambassador Programme
Current families welcome newly arrived families — especially those relocating internationally — through their first months at the school and in Barcelona. Families are matched by the age of their children, languages spoken at home, and shared interests.
- New families are automatically offered an ambassador contact when they join
- A friendly way to meet new families and build community spirit
- Current families are warmly invited to sign up
School Community Forum
An open forum bringing families and the school team together — the school's channel for sharing information, gathering feedback and shaping school life in dialogue with the whole parent community.
- Open to all families across both campuses
- Regular sessions with the school leadership team
- The school's route for parent feedback, questions and initiatives
Hear from our community.
In their own words — the students and families of BMS.
